Susan Craft, soprano

Hailed for her gorgeous operatic voice and performances of showstopping brilliance (The Wisconsin State Journal), soprano Susan Craft has proven a favorite with audiences ranging from local school children to seasoned opera fans. Most recently, Susan appeared as an ethereal Lily in UW Theaters The Secret Garden and delighted Savoyard fans with her portrayal of Tessa in The Gondoliers. Upcoming performances include a solo appearance with the Kettle Moraine Symphonys Spring Pops concert and Mrs. Grose in The Turn of the Screw with UW Opera in October 2004.
An engaging recitalist and concert artist, Ms. Craft is a founding member of The Three Sopranos of Madison. Solo concert repertoire includes Handels Messiah, the Faure Requiem and Brittens Ceremony of Carols. Her expressive performances of A Musical Portrait, a recital of 20th century American music, have been warmly received, and praised for making the repertoire relevant to everyday life experiences. She is a popular school performer, bringing the world of classical music and opera alive for area elementary students.
Ms. Craft is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, where she was the recipient of numerous scholarships and awards. She is currently a student of Metropolitan Opera soprano Julia Faulkner. A licensed instructor for the Yamaha Music Education System, she lives in the Madison area with her husband, Jim Larson, and their two young daughters.
